Guests: Professor Anne Poelina, senior custodian of the Martuwarra Fitzroy River; Maryanne Slattery, former Murray Darling Basin Director of Environmental Water; and Bill Johnson, First Environmental Water Manager for NSW will speak with Gregg Borschmann
After five years of relatively benign seasons and record rains and floods, an El Nino event was officially declared for Australia in June 2026. Promised water reform along the Darling has stalled, with marginal results at best, and in the west pressures for irrigated agriculture, fracking, and mining threaten scared sites and endangered wildlife along the Martuwarra (Fitzroy River).
Kimberley woman Professor Anne Poelina says the only way forward is for unity between indigenous and non-indigenous people to save landscapes.
Gregg Borschmann has generously championed the Lyrebird Festival over recent years and contributes immensely to make this event an occasion of excellence, inspiration and good cheer.
