The Maes bring modern folk to life with lush harmonies and acoustic brilliance on guitar, mandolin, fiddle and banjo. Sisters Maggie and Elsie Rigby, born in Central Victoria, grew up immersed in a melting pot of global music on stolen land. Their storytelling is warm and witty, their harmonies spine-tingling, and their stage presence equal parts sweet and sharp.

Echoes of Gillian Welch and The Waifs shine through their timeless songwriting, and their live shows are magnetic - drawing audiences in with charm and raw talent. The Maes have sold out headline shows around the world and graced stages at top festivals including Telluride (USA), Edmonton (Canada), Orkney (UK) and Woodford (Aus).

Their fourth studio album, Abreast, arrives in July 2025, followed by a UK tour with Grace Petrie and performances at Shetland and Orkney Folk Festivals. They'll also mark the release with their own curated event, Abreastival, at Castlemaine's Theatre Royal.

Their previous albums have earned major accolades, including Music Victoria's Folk/Roots Album of the Year.
