The Glow Worm Tunnel Marathon Weekend is a festival of trail running at Newnes in the spectacular Wolgan Valley.

It’s an awesome camping weekend or stay at one of the Greater Lithgow accommodation venues.

The weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon with a 1.2km race up the very steep 370m ascent of Mystery Mountain Dash.

Saturday has three races – The Marathon, The Half Marathon and the Ted English Bolt 6km.

Sunday has another Half Marathon and a Kids Race. This Half Marathon also includes the Family Pairs Team race.

The Marathon course is a tale of two halves and runners will encounter steep gullies, creek crossings, old mine cuttings, ruins and some long forgotten railway easements. The terrain is exciting, challenging and you may find it hard to keep the smile from your face. The first half of the marathon is a steep mountain trail over the Pipeline Track to Glen Davis. The second leg of the Marathon and the two Half marathons starts at Newnes and goes through the Glow Worm Tunnel, up to the Old Coach Road back to Newnes.

The Ted English Bolt is a great family friendly 6km run around industrial ruins of Newnes.

The Grand Slam is the ultimate challenge over 4 events of the GWTM – Friday Mystery Mountains Dash, Saturday Marathon and 6km and Sunday Half Marathon.
