Back On Top Down Under Tour: Steve Grieve & The Mourners

Steve Grieve and The Mourners inhabit a virtual Neverland of hazy musical dreams, outback chicanery, and hybrid rock, roots and urbane blues edifices – that’s correct. Since its fiery inception some decades ago in Canberra the band has been a vehicle for the songwriting of Steve Grieve (guitar) and Dan Myles (vocals). Performing alongside iconic acts Dr. Feelgood, Johnny Winter, and Lonnie Mack, the band enjoys an improbable yet mythical cult status on an increasingly vast yet desultory Australian musical landscape.

The new album Caterpillar Maze has received much critical acclaim since its release in December 2017 – featuring continuously in the top 15 on the Australian Blues and Roots Airplay Charts, and was recently nominated in the Independent Blues Broadcaster’s Association (UK) top four “Presenter’s Picks of the Month” for May 2018.

The band boasts a stellar and committed cast of players – Greg Royal on bass (Wendy Matthews, Kate Ceberano, Ian Moss), Mick Skelton on drums (Baby Animals, Thirsty Merc, Sarah McLeod) and Brendan St. Ledger on keyboards (Glenn Shorrock, Marcia Hines, Lily Dior). Dan is recently returned from a 14 year hiatus in the US where, immersed in both West and East coast music scenes, he also recorded and produced a fine solo album. Steve’s other performance credits include lengthy stints with Margaret Urlich, Christine Anu and sundry notable others, including Elvin Bishop and the legendary Jimmy Witherspoon.

The Back On Top Down Under tour features the band performing tunes from their back catalogue as well as from Caterpillar Maze, and promises to be a truly unique and energised affair. Musicians of this calibre performing new and acclaimed Australian work such as this is rare and noteworthy – this limited run of shows is a must see events for roots, blues and rock music aficionados.

Annual Yulefest Blue Mountains Dinner and Show

Cult comedy entertainment… The Best British Comedy Down Under

With high energy and snappy one-liners, you will be quoting these guys for Forever!

The many stories of Neddie Seagoon, a rotund and short (“Duck’s Disease, the curse of the Seagoons!”) idiot.

This tour de overacting, incorporating lots of sound effects, silly voices and a platoon of CraZy characters, will have you in fits of laughter and drowning in your own tears.

Seagoon, a good-natured and hairy sort, is victim to a terrible weakness… GREED. Coupled with his innate gullibility, Neddie’s covetous nature makes him easy prey to confidence schemes courtesy of the conniving cads Grytpype-Thynne and Moriarty.

Featuring a plethora of characters including the world’s most famous idiot Eccles (yes, even more infamous than Neddie), the squeaky-voiced boy-scout Bluebottle (who reads his stage-directions out loud), Major Dennis Bloodnok a devout coward, and Miss Minnie Bannister the sexy senior citizen who lives in sin with crumbling, fumbling old man Henry Crun.
