How To Get Here
The Blue Mountains is only 90 minutes from downtown Sydney and can be reached by car, rail, shuttle and scheduled services.
Getting to the Blue Mountains by Car
From Sydney - Via Great Western Highway (M4)
The most direct approach is to head west from Sydney along Parramatta Road to the M4 Motorway.
The toll way costs $2.20 and leads you to the foot of the Mountains at Lapstone. We would suggest that you drop in at Glenbrook Visitor Information Centre where you can get some friendly advice from the local information officer, collect maps, walking guides and book accommodation if you plan to stay in the area longer than the day.
From Canberra/Melbourne - Via Goulburn and Oberon
When travelling North on the Princes Highway turn at Goulburn and proceed through Goulburn turning left at the turnoff to Wombeyan Caves. Proceed along the Taralga Road to Taralga and Abercrombie Road to Oberon. Note there remains 15km of unsealed, although good quality road in the process of being sealed by late 2007.
Via the Bells Line of Road via Windsor and Richmond
From the city, take the Harbour Tunnel or Harbour Bridge and follow the Warringah Expressway straight through to Lane Cove. Follow this through onto the M2 Motorway until you reach the Blacktown exit.
Turn right onto Burns Road and follow this onto Old Windsor Road. This will run into Windsor Road, turn right and it will take you right into Windsor in about an hours drive. Cross the Hawkesbury River at Richmond and onto the Bells Line of Road.
Via Lithgow and Hartley Valley.
If you live in the West of the State you can approach the Mountains via Lithgow and Hartley Valley.
